PROF. GRZEGORZ GÓRSKI

Academic teacher, lawyer, habilitated doctor of legal sciences, associate professor and until 2023 Rector of the Jagiellonian University in Toruń, from 2011 to 2014 judge of the State Tribunal. In the years 1988 - 1992 he worked at the Department of Pomeranian History of the Institute of History of the Polish Academy of Sciences. From 1994 he worked at the Catholic University of Lublin, where from 1997 he was the Head of the Department of State and Law History at the Faculty of Law, Canon Law and Administration. From 1998, he was the Director of the Center for American Law at the Catholic University of Lublin, established jointly with the Chicago-Kent College of Law. In the years 2001 - 2005 he was the head of the General Section of Legal Sciences at the Faculty of Law, Canon Law and Administration of the Catholic University of Lublin. He worked at KUL until 2016. Since 2008, he has been working at the Jagiellonian University in Toruń, of which he was the rector in the years 2017-2023. In the years 2011-2014, he was a member of the State Tribunal. Currently, he is a member of the Science Evaluation Committee and the Council of the National Program for the Development of the Humanities. Prof. G. Górski is the supervisor of 24 defended doctoral theses, and he also participated in many doctoral and habilitation proceedings as a reviewer. Prof. Górski is a member of the Scientific Society in Toruń and the Scientific Society of the Catholic University of Lublin, as well as a member of the Council of the Elżbieta Zawacka Archive Foundation in Toruń. Prof. Górski specializes in the modern history of Poland and the history of the political system and law in Poland after 1918, as well as in the history of the political system and law in the USA and Great Britain. He is the author of over two hundred monographs and scientific articles.
